Greek fast food chain,Goody’s, is looking to expand to Australia following the initiative of a Greek-Australian to take it there. In Greece, Goody’s has managed to oust all other competition from the market, however it remains to be seen whether the local chain will be able to gain a share of the international market.

Australian newspaper Neos Kosmos reports that taking Goody’s to Australia is the brainchild of Greek-Australian businessman Kostas Tagalakis. The chain’s move to the land Down Under is considered a risk for Vivartia that has so far expanded close to home, going only as far as the Balkans (Albania, Bulgaria, FYROM) and Belarus.
There are currently 150 Goody’s restaurants operating in Greece and the Balkan region.

Mr Mansour Al Suwaidi, General Manager of Franchise UAE Middle East, said: "Following the success of the past four editions, the 5th Franchise UAE Expo will be much bigger in scale and scope, taking place at a larger venue. Our partnership with franchising organisations from different countries will naturally bring a larger number of exhibitors to the 5th Franchise UAE Expo, as the UAE and the GCC region are high on the radar of international franchisors that are looking for new markets."
Among the key organisations supporting the 5th Franchise UAE Expo are Indonesian Franchise Association, Franchise Association of New Zealand, Lebanese Franchise Association, Italian Franchise Association and Philippine Franchise Association.
The main goal of Franchise UAE Expo is to project the Middle East region as a fertile ground for growing franchising brands, due to its vibrant business environment, multicultural population, strong presence of high network individuals and high purchasing power among consumers.
Al Suwaidi said: "Franchise UAE Expo is driven by the belief that franchise business has become more diversified, bringing new sectors under its fold. Today, unprecedented franchising opportunities are available in several business sectors, including education, apparel, laundry and dry cleaning services, automotive, restaurants, mail and packages services, printing and convenience stores. Franchise UAE Expo provides a strategic platform for new entrepreneurs to tap these amazing new opportunities."
Since its launch in 2010, Franchise UAE Expo has grown in stature. At the last Expo visitors numbers reached 2,987 up from 1,200 in the first year.
